چکیده

The deconfinement transition region between hadronic matter and quarkgluon plasma is studied for finite volumes. Assuming simple model equations of state and a first order phase transition, we find that fluctuations in finite volumes hinder a sharp separation between the two phases around the critical temperature, leading to a rounding of the phase transition. For reaction volumes expected in heavy ion experiments, the softening of the equation of state is reduced considerably. This is especially true when the requirement of exact color-singletness is included in the QGP equation of state. ∗Supported by GSI, BMBF, DFG

Can the Quark - Gluon Plasma in the Early Universe be supercooled ?

The quark-hadron phase transition in the early universe can produce inho-mogeneities in the distribution of nucleons, which in turn affect the primordial nucleosynthesis. In all the investigations of this problem it has been assumed that the degree of supercooling of the quark-gluon plasma after the phase transition is large enough to produce a significant rate of nucleation of hadrons. Using t...

The Jet Quenching in High Energy Nuclear Collisions and Quark-gluon Plasma

We investigate the energy loss of quark and gluon jets in quark-gluon plasma produced in central Au+Au collisions at RHIC energy. We use the physical characteristic of initial and mixed phases, which were found in effective quasiparticle model for SPS and RHIC energy [5]. At investigation of energy loss we take into account also the production of hot glue at first stage. The energy loss in expa...

Gluon Condensate and Parton Propagation in a Quark-gluon Plasma

Finite temperature QCD can be used to describe properties of a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) possibly created in the fireball of relativistic heavy ion collisions and in the early Universe. There are two different methods available, namely lattice QCD and perturbation theory. Lattice QCD is a non-perturbative method, which can be used at all temperatures above and below the phase transition. However...

Theory of Quark - Gluon Plasma and Phase Transition

Nonperturbative picture of strong interacting quark-gluon plasma is given based on the systematic Field Correlator Method. Equation of state, phase transition in density-temperature plane is derived and compared to lattice data as well as subsequent thermodynamical quantities of QGP.

We recalculate the free energy of droplets of quark-gluon plasma in a bulk hadronic medium, and of hadronic bubbles in a bulk quark-gluon plasma, under conditions resembling the cosmological quark-hadron transition. The results are derived using MIT bag boundary conditions, numerically summing over quark and gluon energy levels, as well as in terms of surface tension plus curvature expansions o...

Recent progress in finite temperature lattice QCD

I review recent progress in the determination of the QCD phase diagram at finite temperature, in investigations of the nature of the transition or crossover from the hadronic phase to the quark-gluon plasma phase and in the determination of the equation of state. This talk will focus on results at zero chemical potential.
